What a beautiful story about Surfer Jesus finding a new home. Isn't it amazing how the Holy Spirit is at work beneath the surface of our perceptions, steadily, hourly, all around the world? And then, if we're paying attention and ask the right question, we receive the beautiful evidence of his work in the life of another person, perhaps even a stranger. How lovely that you had the opportunity to give him a gift as well! Thank you for sharing your story, Fr. David. You are in my prayers for a successful surgery and recovery.

Praise the Lord that the picture of Jesus has found the right new home. I am sure it will be a continuing blessing to him as it was for your friend.

Thank you for sharing this story - what am amazing testament to how the Lord will choose to bring incidents and people together, for Him to turn a situation of grief and loss into an opportunity for good, encourage us as believers, and ultimately add to His glory. There are no coincidences in His kingdom. This makes my day!

I'll be praying for your recovery.

What a sweet story. It was a great reminder to me to return to basic truths in my heart when I’m feeling overwhelmed. I’ve been walking through a rough season….finally seeing light again. My prayers for a safe surgery. Also, I grew up in Plano. In fact I moved there as a little girl the same year you planted the church. I grew up Baptist. The Holy Spirit moved in very dramatic ways (sometimes unpleasant) and brought our family to an Anglican Church plant in our area in 2020. I was very reluctant but then I started to see my children begin to thrive in their faith. Even my prodigal was beginning to see the light again. She did return, albeit in some very painful ways. But she met her husband after coming through those painful waters. It’s a beautiful redemption story. I don’t make it back to Plano much but my aging parents are still in Allen so I believe my visits will begin increasing soon.

His redemption story was much like mine 47 years ago. Intense, filled with tears and laughter to follow. I have that very same picture in my kitchen today…reminds me of his love and grace. Thank you for sharing and you are in my prayers regarding your surgery. I have your book and look forward to going through lent with you. Amen

What a beautiful closure to a beautiful life. Thanks so much for sharing and I agree walking into the sanctuary at Christ Church is itself a spiritual experience. I use to love just going in and sitting quietly. Got my book today, thank you so much. Just added you to my prayer list for a quick recovery.

Praying for successful surgery and an amazingly textbook recovery.

"Surfer Jesus" is the Jesus who hung on my childhood bedroom wall, surrounded by children with the words, "God is love," across the bottom. After my parents died I found another copy of it and a copy of the image of Surfer Carpenter Jesus. After purchasing them for their memorial services our church framed them and hung them in their honor. As a child I saw Jesus receiving the children with kind eyes and hands. I will pray for "Got Junk" guy when I see the pictures at church, knowing that my parents would have appreciated a guy who trusted God for salvation, a Bible, and a picture of Jesus.
