Jesus Christ Superstar hit the theaters in 1973. I was eighteen, didn’t know much better, and I was hooked, especially by Judas’s critique of Jesus’ strategy. He sings:

“If you’d come today, you could have reached the whole nation.
Israel in 4 BC had no mass communication.”

That made sense to me. I had the same thought!
