An August Invitation: A Daily Walk Through John 14
Would you be interested in a daily dive into a verse a day through John 14:1-31 for all of August??
Opinion Poll at the End
Dear Readers,
Vacation times are dangerous for me. When I slow down the RPMs and truly get away (I’m at the beach now. I mean not right now…but in these days for only one more day.)
I find that my mind blossoms with new ideas and opportunities.
Fran told me that she and a friend have been doing a daily meditation for July on John 14, with 31 verses, one each day. That immediately gave me the idea that I might join in her idea and offer the readers of The Anglican something similar to end the summer months.
What do you think?
August is strange.
For some, it drifts—slow mornings, quiet inboxes, half-attended Sundays.
For others, it ramps up—back-to-school chaos, fall calendars filling fast, the low hum of responsibility returning. Summer hasn’t ended, but you can feel it loosening its grip. It’s a month caught in between—still warm, but leaning forward.
A season of drift for some. A season of pressure for others. Either way, it’s easy to feel unanchored.
So here’s what I’m thinking:
What if we read John 14, one verse a day, every day for August?
Not long essays.
Not academic commentary.
Just brief, pointed reflections—each built around a line of Scripture, a moment from life, a word of encouragement, and a prayer.
John 14 begins with “Let not your heart be troubled” and ends with “Rise, let us go from here.” That sounds like a good arc for the end of summer.
I’ll send these to paid subscribers starting August 1 at 6:12 AM. If you’re already a subscriber, you’re in. If not, now’s a good time to climb aboard.
Would you read along?
Would you share it?
Would it help?
