Amazing job of writing that story David. I must admit i had tears in my eyes reading it and remembering the warm love I felt there at Christ Church, and with our close relationship with each other.

I am so enjoying reading the stories and reminiscing. It touches my heart strings and reinforces my belief in the power of prayer and God's love for us. David, are you considering publishing these stories in book form? I would purchase it! Thank you for writing these stories--they are wonderful!

Patti, yes. I think it has to be a book. I have about 12 more stories and then some to go.

Amazing story! It seems that you consider everyone you meet a person God has brought to you to love and help in any possible way through prayer and rallying support. Honestly, I've often met people in need like Jimmy, and just thrown up my hands as if all things were IMPOSSIBLE. Thanks for stirring my heart to see how compassion plus prayer plus perseverance works!

It was impossible, for sure. But honestly, how could we have done nothing? He would have dwindled and died. It was a huge effort to undertake, but it taught everyone (most especially me) the power of prayer.

Yes, that’s the question I want to hold: “How can we (I) do nothing?”

With tears running down my cheeks, I remember that day well when the congregation cheered Jimmy getting a new liver. What a touching story. God is good. No, God is great!

I remember that day well. Truly a miracle. We have seen this miracle with my daughter in law’s father getting a liver. What a tense day and sad for one and happy for another. Also my brother in law with a new heart and later a new kidney from his daughter. To see that helicopter is a gift. God bless you Jimmy

This episode brought to mind the liver transplant that finally became available for my brother. He did not have many days left waiting for the “right” liver. We anxiously waited. The “call” came in the middle of the night. The family rushed to Baylor Hospital. I shall never forget hearing the sound of the helicopter flying in with an “extended life” for my brother. Since I had the power of attorney for him, the surgeon told me that the liver he was getting was the right size, right blood type and was from a young man who was in a tragic automobile accident, however, the liver was severed in the accident but he assured me, it would heal itself. He suggested I not tell my brother or any of the family because it would just make everyone worried. It was the gift of life from a very benevolent family. The surgeon said it should buy my brother at least five more years but it actually gave him nine more years with us. God is good, God is merciful.

What a beautiful story of how a church comes together as a family to help their brothers and sisters in need, through prayer and action. As the pastor

you demonstrated the faith that the church body, through trust and hope in Almighty God, can do what seems impossible. God loves us and He sees our troubles, hears our prayers and provides. Not always what we ask for but always what we need to accomplish His plan for our lives. Thank you for sharing.

My memories of this story include hearing that most likely the liver would come from a motorcyclist and that we should pray for him - for safety and that he wear a helmet. It seemed odd to pray for the things that would save the person from becoming a donor, yet it also was comforting to know that those things had been prayed for because, if I recall correctly,. It was indeed a motorcycle accident that lead to the donor’s death.
