As I wait to be reunited with those who have gone before me, I sing (can't hit my pitches anymore 😭), dance (now only with my own moves,) and play the piano (only andante these days). Yes, keep those neurons firing on all circuits, David. You can do this. Find the moments, even if it means going down rabbit holes. 🤗 Those unexpected turns in the road bring unexpected inspiration to write what we then get to enjoy!

I'd say that I agree with both you and Bob Dylan on this.

For gosh sakes, pick it up. Mine lays idle because my vocal chords have atrophied and I always linked the two…maybe I’ll pick mine up as well.

After my husband ‘s graduation from law school we lived in Coolidge, attended St Michael’s church when Bishop Joe Harte made a visit. After church we had a social gathering and The Bishop played his guitar and we all sang sp? Together! That was 60 yrs ago! What a meaningful memory! Pick up your guitar please!

Here's the fun part for me. I knew Joe Harte. He confirmed me back then. I was very close to the people at St. Michael's, including the Cole family, Beth and Dalton. I was very good friends with Don Monson.

I heard Jimmy Webb in an interview say Wichita Lineman was his follow up to By the Time I Get the Phoenix. Same character.

I did some research on this and found that you’re right. They are the same guy. Wow. My life has one less unanswered question to worry about. Thanks!

Webb did seem to leave song open enough for a reunion, but if he left her unannounced, wow, that might not be reversible. So, maybe he will just “want her for all time.”

Yes, Fr. David, pick up that guitar. I remember the Sunday you joined our praise team with your guitar. It was delightful to see your other talent. Writing is definitely your talent, but don’t neglect music. Scientifically speaking, playing your guitar will help fire neurons in your brain that will help your writing and creativity. I’m not a scientist, but I am a reading teacher and curriculum writer. I’ve done a lot of research and written many reading passages on the subject, hoping to encourage kids to make music or sing or dance. So…make some music! Then write. 😁

Marty and I enjoyed your post and it reminded us of you playing your guitar on our trip to Israel in November, 2018. and how much you enjoyed it. Pick it up again and make beautiful music.

Sounds like we may be watching some of the same YouTube videos! Just yesterday I watched Charles Cornell's take on the song https://youtu.be/uDLpfVmHufU?si=gNkIXIN_yDxAwUVE

He wasn't even around when Glen Campbell made "Lineman" famous but I appreciate his discovery of it and his demonstration of those interesting patterns on the keyboard. Also, Rick Beato has interviewed Webb on his YouTube channel and did a livestream a couple years back on what makes the song great. Both are worth watching if you haven't already viewed them.
